IS JOB DOING HIS JOB ?

             

When i get the news that BU BUAKIE JABBIE has won injunction over SLPP against holding  the schedule conference to choose a flag bearer on March 11th,2011. I start to wonder if the leaders  of the party are doing their jobs, after a long thought I came to the conclusion that they are not doing the major things they are elected to do communications, finance and unity. No way a political party can win without these three.
1. COMMUNICATION : Always the party in power has a greater advantage in communication because they control the tools of communication and they use it to their advantage, some times  they even monitor and suppress any media or anyone  they think is opposition to their cause especially if they are revealing  their sort comings and bring it to light, so that the citizens will hold them to account for it.The job of the opposition parties in Sierra Leone is to point out to the public the intentions of the ruling  APC party is  to bring back the one party system ,to payback their supporters and drain the country's wealth and put a huge debt and burden  in the next generation of Sierra Leoneans. But I don't see that in these opposition parties especially the main opposition party headed by John Benjamin SLPP.A party should always find a way how to come close and interact with the whole public not only your registered members and  give them reasons  why they should dump the party in power for you, you have to have a tool of communication world wide not only in the country press release is not enough .
2. FINANCE :People are skeptical about political parties especially if you are in the opposition you cannot rely on membership dues to finance a party, as we know no one is enthusiastic on opposition parties unless election time. The only way political parties can generate funds is by social events and constructive criticism of the government for either their failure to deliver on campaigned promises or by rewarding  their friends at the expense of the country, you have to show your supporters why they should be enthusiastic and give money to your party, candidates registration fee is not a subsidy for fundraising, the other thing you have to know fundraising is a barometer for how the country is interested in a party.
3. UNITY: Unity does not mean every one should be in the same party or agree on everything, APC  one to unite the country in way that will bring back the one party system in Sierra Leone. When President Koroma nominate JB DAUDA and BORBOR SAWYER  for cabinet positions the SLPP was angry and suspended both of them from the party, I don't think the SLPP reacted because of the nomination but it might be the way they have to know about the nomination. I was not surprise about it as a lot of politicians in Sierra Leone are called "political prostitutes". But will give anyone the courage to serve with  a government close to election time let a lone the main opposition party member ,mostly is disunity and lack of confidence of the leadership to unite a party you have to go by the bylaws , fair to everyone and listen to the party members concerns and warnings to avoid divisions, if this was done by JOB Mr.Jabbie would not have gone to court.
All SLPP members should ask them selves is the NEC chairman  JOB is doing his job, how is he communicating the issues of the Sierra Leoneans and party outside the country, how good is his fundraising mechanism without logistics and finance your message will not be heard and how is he uniting Sierra Leoneans to benefit the party in the coming elections. If not what is next ?
